The front face of the rock bears a red, white, and blue painted engraving of the "AA" ("All-American") insignia from the shoulder patch of the 82nd Airborne Division. Beneath the insignia, the stone is engraved to honor the sacrifice of the 328th Infantry regiment in War War I.

Dedication date: The memorial was created in 1919.

Materials & Techniques: Stone

Sponsor: The memorial is believed to have been created by a Georgia stonemason.

Subject notes: A sign next to the stone indicates that it was carved in 1919 by a Georgia stonemason to honor the 82nd Airborne Division's 328th Infantry. The stone was originally located at Camp Gordon, Georgia, the original base of the 82nd Airborne Division and where they were organized in August of 1917. Fort Bragg became the home of the 82nd Airborne in the late 1940s, with the stone being relocated there likely around the same time.

Location: The memorial rock is located on the grounds of the 82nd Airborne Division Museum at Fort Bragg.

Former Locations: The monument was originally located at Camp Gordon, Georgia, the World War I home of the 82nd Airborne Division. Following the transfer of the 82nd Airborne Division to Fort Bragg, the stone was moved to Fort Bragg likely sometime in the late 1940s or early 1950's. The stone was initially placed in front of the 82nd Airborne Division Museum but was moved to its current location in the 1980's to make room for an expansion of the museum.

Landscape: The memorial is located in a raised garden area outside the museum, surrounded by plantings and shade trees.
